Last Friday, several judges from the Lions Club visited our campus to select winners from Trinity to continue in the Vision of Peace Poster contest. Congratulations to Sydney Bassett who was awarded First place and will receive a $100 savings bond. Second place was awarded to Carolyn Albritton and Third place to Mary Conley Teel. They will receive $75 and $50 savings bonds.
To view images of all the student's work for this competition, see the 6th grade page on our class WIKI. I have uploaded a PDF file with images of all the posters.
Don't be surprised if your 6th grade students ask you to donate items to our art class that sound like we are trying to rival the food network show "Ace of Cakes". They may even start using words like gum paste and fondant. There are some special staff at Trinity that will receive our "artwork" for their dedication and hard work to our school!! I am sure we will have lots of pictures and maybe a video or two to share. This should get interesting !!!
7th grade is working hard to develop their rendering skills. We have been learning how to create 3 dimension in our work using value, light and shadow. They drew their hands this week using a view finder. We selected a top 10 from our gallery and will publish these next week on our WIKI. The work will also be on display in the Lobby of Willett Hall through December. We are using all these skills to design a still life painting of a fruit and / or vegetable. We will produce a copy of our painting for a class critique (and for the student's to keep). Our final canvas will be donated to Zoe's on Zelda and sold to our community in January. Proceeds will be given back to Trinity. Our class is raising money to plan a field trip to the High Museum of Art in Atlanta.
