What's up this week:
7th grade: We are rendering with colored pencils. Students have created a color wheel and rendered a tomato still life with step by step instruction. We spent Wednesday discussing what defines a still life and studying famous artwork from the early Middle Ages to Modern Art. Students spent Thursday and Friday creating their own still life with props. They were able to photograph their work and will use this design to render with colored pencils showing realism. We will then learn to paint with a palette knife (plastic) and paint the same still life in a more abstract style.
6th grade: The Vision of Peace Poster Contest is next! This event is sponsored by the Montgomery Lions Club. We have been discussing the theme in class, learning to draw a realistic hand and peace dove. On Tuesday, we will be in the Mac Lab researching images to use to collage our ideas. Students will then hand draw their poster ideas on 81/2" x 11" format and enlarge to the final poster format. We will be working on this project for the next 2 weeks minimum.
We are looking forward to a great week with lots of hard work!!
