6th grade art student Ensley Craven wins TPS 5K and Fun Run T-shirt design!!

We are so excited for our very own, Ensley Craven for receiving 1st place in the TPS 5K and Fun Run t-shirt design competition! There were so many great designs from our middle school art students! The race committee presented the award and a check for $150 to Ensley last week during middle school lunch! We look forward to seeing her design on our race t-shirt! Don't forget about the race on March 10!

What's coming up next?
6th and 7th grade art students have completed their Mini Art Works projects. We have selected finalist to be matted and framed and
sent to the Montgomery Academy Mini Art Works show. Exhibition dates are April 2-15 with a closing ceremony and award presentation at Montgomery Academy on Sunday, April 15 2:30-4:00. More details to follow!

6th grade students are currently working on the Montgomery Museum of Fine Arts Corridor Artworks Program: Vibrant Colors. We are studying the work of Louis Mailou Jones and her bold use of color and pattern to create artwork that expresses the multicultural mix that is America today. The exhibition dates for this event are March 17-June 10 at the Montgomery Museum of Fine Arts. Works will be submitted on Friday, March 2 and the museum will select the pieces to display as a part of this exhibit.

7th grade art students are currently working on their self portrait using the 7 elements of of design. We have been exploring line and will complete our first section this week. We will move to shape, color, value, texture, space and form in the upcoming weeks.

Your students are a blessing to teach!
